PEOPLE STRATEGY APPROACH

An effective People Strategy is a vital part of any successful business. By creating and deploying a People Strategy, your associates are closely aligned with your business’ objectives. This will help your organization to better achieve its goals. We partner with our client companies and assist them with the development, implementation, and measurement of their organizations’ People Strategy. The LCG "People Strategy" approach is a tailored and systematic process that is practical, actionable, and relevant.

Common steps in a People Strategy include:

Define Organizational Goals:

“ If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there!”

The best way to begin any people development initiative is to start by defining “where you want to go”. Defining where the organization wants to go, is a critical step in planning for success, and is a step that is often overlooked. LCG can assist you and your company with this first and critical phase of the People Strategy.

Assess Current Situation
A core competency of LCG, and a basic tenet of a People Strategy is the assessment process. Assessments (Leadership, 360°, Executive & Management, Selection, Development, Cultural, Sales) serve as the basis for identifying traits indicative of success in an individual, team, or corporation, and help assess “where you are”, acting as a starting point for a People Plan. A series of scientific and objective analyses are combined with a personal interview, which provides clients with accurate data and a comprehensive overview from which a People Plan can be formed.

 Develop a People Plan
The defined corporate goals and the assessment results form the foundation of the People Plan. The People Plan is the strategy to take your organization from “where it is” to “where you want it to be” — it provides a plan to fulfill your goals with your most important asset, your people.

The People Plan helps increase the value of your organization’s Individual Capital, Leadership Capital, and Corporate Capital. Based on the information gathered to this point, the implementation of the plan might include developmental programs (internal or external), workshops, executive coaching and/or additional assessments.

The various components of the People Plan are customized to the needs of your organization because the goal of the LCG People Plan is to advance your business through your people.

 Implementation
The People Plan serves as the “road map” for the organization's success journey, guiding it from “where it is” to “where it wants to go.” The organization's leadership capital sets the tone for implementation by endorsing the People Plan, which is designed to maximize organizational competencies and drive efficiency and effectiveness. Regardless of the strategy, it will not be successful without a sound implementation phase.

Implementing the People Plan takes into consideration the entire corporation: its individual human capital, its leadership capital, and its cultural capital. Since our work covers a wide spectrum of complex issues, it is imperative that qualified and trained professionals drive the process. The LCG team is made up of Corporate Psychologists, former CEO’s, Accountants, MBA’s, and Sales Professionals. This skilled team brings a degree of sophistication and expertise to the implementation process that has been consistently demonstrated. These professionals have experience turning “soft issues” into quantifiable, hard-hitting, bottom-line results.

“Success comes from delivering value to your customers and the ability to deliver value comes from having sound conceptions of what customers want and value and of how to organize and manage people and how to produce that value”
— Jeffrey Pfeffer, The Human Equation

The LCG implementation team is extremely skilled at working through challenging issues in executing the People Plan, motivating the corporation's human capital (the individual human capital, the leadership capital, and the cultural capital) to be its best. Although the LCG team of professionals uses a variety of skills and tools with a client, there are two components within the implementation phase that differentiate LCG from other programs or projects: education and coaching; that, when combined, produce a quantifiable outcome.

The LCG educational forum delivers pertinent information and initiates lively dialogue. We do not use “canned classes” but instead create proprietary presentation and case study/discussion material in partnership with former CEOs, corporate psychologists and other business leaders. Coaching is another integral part of the LCG People Strategy and Implementation process, and is managed over a specified period of time to best integrate desired behaviors into an organization, based on the Development Plan, the coach's own experience, and validated “best practices.”

Measure Results
The final element in a People Strategy is measuring results. LCG can measure and validate the change in your organization by using various assessment tools (i.e., a 360º or cultural assessment at the beginning and end of the project), an ROI process based on established metrics, or an interview with business leaders who are sponsoring the project. Measuring results will substantiate the power of advancing business through people .
